Dodeca lantern

Following my trials with removing a layer of TetraPak for Christmas cards, I have begun to see what uses this could have for windmill loop.

Other than painting, I see that being able to attach paper using water based paper glue could lead to some new ideas.

This dodecahedron is made from Tetrapak that has had the layer of print removed. The loops are made using a block to turn the edges in – resulting in a double layer loop – so it’s really strong and has no exposed edges. The loops have been painted with watercolour.

Ten of the holes are filled with glassine paper left over from my Window Stars, and I glued in a cardboard base to hold the candle although I could have left this out and stood it over the candle.

It’s quite ‘chunky’ looking, but it’s really quite tough and holds it’s shape well.

Would you be interested in instructions for this project?

We are currently in the process of putting together instructions for some of our designs. We plan to ask for a small fee to fund the development of a ‘Loop Maker’ tool. In the meantime many of our designs are low tech and can be achieved using household tools and materials. If you would like to express interest in instructions for the above project, we’d be glad to hear from you!
