I first tried WLW in 2016 and made a small basket from toilet roll tubes. I just loved how the loops linked together, it is so neat and simple! I began to try out WLW on other materials, mostly Tetra Pak because I have access to a lot of it. Sometimes I take a long break from WLW while I allow my stocks to replenish.
Things I think are special about this technique:
- It’s a really efficient way of reusing packaging, creating minimal waste
- It’s surprisingly versatile – you can weave plastic bottles through to socks
- I keep finding out new things and that’s exciting – there’s loads more to discover!
I plan to set some of what I have learnt into courses available online. Please get in touch if this may be of interest to you. Windmill Loop Weaving is one of the main projects of Eco Makery.
